Organised by Goto10, Make Art is a festival dedicated to the integration of “free and open source” software in electronic art.
Starting the 24th of January 2006, artists and programmers will take the audience on a journey through this emerging culture via concerts, conferences, software presentations, exhibitions and a workshop.

Ultrasound 2005 presents a diverse programme of live performances, installations, workshop and talks by UK and international artists often working in new interdisciplinary ways across the interrelated fields of new media, contemporary electronic music, software production, new technologies and audiovisual performance.

Placard - headphone concerts for headphone people – non stop streaming festival, will end next saturday with the London one. Several, rather innovative artists will perform at State51 (London) in front of headphoned people all day/night long… In the meantime, Goto10 is setting up a Placard in Poitiers, where people will receive audio/video streams from London at Nyktalopmelodie place from 6:00pm, where headphones are waiting for them… also with drinks and food :). Then from 10:00pm to 2:00am, there will be two simultaneous streams as there will be concerts in both towns. So people will be able to switch between London or Poitiers ones. Have a good one ! With the Rotterdam Headphone Lounge, V2 links up with Le Placard, a nomadic festival that presents live concerts to audiences transmitted via headphones, while streaming simultaneously over the internet. The V2 space will be transformed into a lounge where you can experience electronic music by plugging in your headphone.
Live electronic music performances are brought by sound artists Erik Minkkinen, Sei Matsumura, Robert van Heumen, Tom Schouten and Guy Van Belle and participants from the Audio Signal Processing workshop held at V2. Other performances will be streamed to us from other locations around the world.

In a four-day workshop hosted by V2, sound artists Frank Barknecht and Aymeric Mansoux will introduce the basics of Audio Signal Processing (ASP) in the fields of real-time music production. This workshop specifically targets people who want to develop their work in the digital sound field or those people curious about the processes involved behind the audio software they already use.
The program starts with a theoretical introduction to the basics of digital sound, after which participants will work with the open source software Pure Data (PD) to turn theory into practice. The workshop also teaches and demonstrates which free technologies are available for audio streaming, such as icecast, ogg and vorbis. A Rotterdam Headphone Lounge will wrap up this four-day workshop on Sunday 4 September.

Initiated in 1998 by Parisian musician Erik Minkkinen, LE PLACARD is a nomadic festival that presents live concerts to audiences transmitted via headphones, while streaming simultaneously the performances over the Internet. During “la Fête de Zo”, the event-laboratory will welcome over twenty artists who, over a period of 11 hours, will take turns presenting an assortment of original and unrestricted original electronic music.

A night dedicated to Intr_Version records (from Canada), one of the finest electronic music label today, providing deep and rare digital emotions. Mitchell Akiyama, aMute and Arden live concerts to show that laptop music is not only a story of computer but above all music in all its senses with instruments (drums, guitars, bass, …), visuals and humanity.
The Intr_Version label has been growing years after years in the hearts of minimal and mixed genres music fans since more than 3 years now. With an eclectic catalogue going from the minimal post-rock of aMute to the abstract hip-hop of Ghislain Poirier and the electronica of Vitamins for you. But the goal is always the same : to create a real territory for sensual and dense experimentations. We are proud to welcome some of their favorite performers for a night that our walls will surely remember.
