Aymeric Mansoux and Marloes de Valk developed the installation ‘Pond’ during their artist in residency from April 15th until June 15th 2007, at the Netherlands Media Art Institute.

In ‘pond’, Marloes de Valk and Aymeric Mansoux investigate to what extent information can develop in a network of computers linked with each other and how it is possible for an audience to interact with it.

people.makeart is a new project by GOTO10. It is a repository of articles and lecture materials focused on the relationship between FLOSS (Free / Libre / Open Source Software) and digital arts, as well as a database of free digital art projects. The selected papers will be published on the people.makeart website and will be printed in the FLOSS+Art book, scheduled for spring 2008, using OpenMute’s POD publishing service.

A three day course exploring free and open source software available for live improvisation purposes such as real-time audio effects, controlers, audio and midi processing, as well as the creative possibilities of Pure Data in a live setup.

The workshop is an introduction to GNU/Linux and audio for instrumentalists. No previous knowledge of GNU/Linux is needed but a basic knowledge of computers is! We’ll cover an introduction to GNU/Linux and all the classic software required for live purposes. Topics will include: an introduction to Linux audio, ALSA and soundcard configuration, using JACK to share audio and midi, real-time audio effects with JACK Rack and LADSPA, Linux audio distributions, how to set up a good working live audio station, and more!

During the workshop you’ll learn how to use the CATkit board to create small stand alone objects that use sensors, knobs and switches to generate sound. The workshop is based on 100% FLOSS (Free Libre Open Source Software) and open hardware. You’ll go home with the board and all the software you need to keep building.

make art is an international festival dedicated to the integration of free/libre and open source software (FLOSS) in digital arts.

The second edition of make art takes place in Poitiers (France), from the 3rd to the 8th of April 2007.

make art offers performances, exhibitions, lectures and workshops, focused on the blurred line between art and software programming. The event is dedicated to artists who create their own tools, and apply the same rules to art as to free software development.
